C – small laptop acronyms

CAPS LOCK

A key to make all letters CAPITALISED. A common reason why passwords do not work, if your CAPS LOCK on your keyboard is pressed. Most keyboards thus offer a LED light indicator to tell you when CAPS is on.

CD

Compact Disc

Control-Alt-Delete

A common way to check task manager on your computer. This can then be used to end stuck or crashed programs and windows. Works on most machines and most operating systems.

CAPTCHA

The term CAPTCHA (for Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart) was coined in 2000 by Luis von Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas Hopper and John Langford of Carnegie Mellon University.
