Hard Drive

Also known and Hard Disk, Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Fixed Disk. The Hard Drive stores all the data created on a PC, including the Operating System, Installed programs like Skype and any files you created. On small laptops they come in either SATA or Solid State. The SATA drives are always going to have more data storage capacity than the Solid State as they as far, far cheaper to manufacture, and therefore if you need a bigger data storage laptop, make sure the Solid State drives are at least 16GB. Many small webbooks are still sold with a lowly 1GB and 2GB. Bear in mind the minimum capacity for SATA fitted portable computers is around 40GB-80GB, while its common to find 250GB – 500GB at time of writing.

Hardware

Physical components that make up your machine. Hard Drive, Motherboard, Wireless Card, CPU, Power Supply, Chassis and Display Screen are the main hardware components in all computers, laptops and portable devices.
