Samsung N130 – best budget netbooks around
The N130 has had a lot of positive feedback due to its all round spec and good value for
money. The budget model in the Samsung range of small laptops is lightweight, has good battery life of around 6 hours, a good processor/memory combination, a gloriously crisp 10.1″ screen and really looks the business!
This is one of the best small computers to use if you are traveling or on the road a lot. The downside is the one speaker setup and a small trackpad and left/right click. This has become a common feature in many portable computers given the size saving attempts of the major manufacturers, so a USB mouse is probably advisable if you are doing any prolonged tasks. The Samsung N140 addresses this by offering stereo speakers and slightly bigger screen, though its probably not worth the difference in price.
Software includes a years Microsoft Office (including Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and Microsoft Windows XP Home; though Windows 7 would be a suitable upgrade.
The memory is a good 1GB but i would recommend upgrading to 2GB when you buy new. The bluetooth capability is sacrificed but all other usual wireless and networking components are apparent.
