V – small laptop acronyms

VGA

Video Graphics Accelerator is the technology that delivers the pictures to your computer screen. The VGA port is what you connect a monitor to.

Video Card

Also known as graphics card, or VGA/AGP card, and more recently PCI Express Video Card. These power the images you get on your monitor and can also be connected to a tv tuner. A good graphics card would be at least 128MB (as of April 2009) but anything over 64MB should perform most computer and digital entertainment requirements. If your a gamer or into video editing or desktop publishing then 256MB should be your starting point, and i would be looking at 512MB Cards too as the price difference is not that great. Also with graphics cards, the size can be misleading so there are better cards at 256MB than 512MB.
